July 20, 2009 - ConserVentures, Roseann's consulting and event management business, has a new client. The U.K.-based Biosphere Expeditions is an award-winning, non-profit organization offering hands-on conservation volunteer work expeditions as an adventure-with-a-purpose for everyone. They bridge the gap between scientists at the forefront of conservation work in need of funds and helpers, and enthusiastic laypeople, who in their holiday time, through their hands-on assistance and with their expedition contribution want to support them. Roseann will be helping them to expand their North American presence, gaining new expedition members, and sourcing new expeditions on the continent.
May 12, 2009 - Roseann is blogging again, resurrecting Desert Rose Design Studio over at Blogger, expanding the site as an online journal, exploring the creative process as well as enjoying nature, travel, conservation and more. Coming this summer: online sales of new art. See: Desert Rose Design Studio Online Journal & Blog
February 1, 2009 - The first Overland Expo, organized by Roseann's consulting and event management business, ConserVentures, is surpassing expectations and proving that not all market segments in the economy are doom and gloom. See: Overland Expo.2009 [Update, May 25: The Expo was a great success, selling out weekend courses and exceeding vendor sales - and everyone raved about it!]
January 19, 2009 - Roseann spent a week at the Cincinnati Zoo on behalf of one of her clients, African Conservation Fund and the South Rift Resource Centre in Kenya. One of the bonuses was getting to spend some quality time with baby Tommy T the cheetah, the newest Cat Ambassador, who made his public debut at a lecture given by Kenyan Samantha Russell. She spoke about community-based conservation and science at the Centre.
January 13, 2009 - We just returned from three weeks in Baja, surveying one of the midriff islands with an archaeological expedition. We found ancient stone circles, an old camp and tool-making site, obsidian tools, and even found the source of some of the obsidian. Jonathan will be writing up the trip for Overland Journal.
January 1, 2009 - Roseann launches her new business, ConserVentures, to provide conservation consulting and event management services for businesses and non-profits. A cheetah appears in the logo representing ConserVentures' tagline: "Explore, Educate, & Protect."
December 30, 2008 - Jonathan's magazine, Overland Journal, records one of its best months ever. This archival-quality publication is setting new standards for travel journalism, and helping to define a new market segment in North America for vehicle recreation and accessory sales.
